A woman was arrested at Disneyland Resort in Anaheim, California, on Wednesday, September 25, after allegedly attempting to sneak her two children into Disney California Adventure Park without paying for their tickets. The woman, whose identity has not been disclosed, reportedly claimed that her children were under the age of three, which would have allowed them to enter the park for free under Disneyland’s admission policy.
According to Disneyland officials, the woman misrepresented the ages of her children, as children over the age of three are required to have valid tickets for entry. When confronted by park staff, the woman refused to provide identification, prompting the involvement of the Anaheim Police Department. She was subsequently arrested for obstructing a peace officer by failing to show her ID.
A video of the incident circulated on social media, showing the woman being escorted out of the park by officers. Her two young daughters, visibly distressed, were heard calling out for help in Spanish as their mother was led away. The footage has garnered significant attention, sparking debates on social media about the escalating costs of theme park tickets and the extreme measures some parents may take to avoid them.
Disneyland Resort’s current ticketing policy allows children under the age of three to enter the park for free, as long as they are accompanied by an adult who has a valid ticket and park reservation. For children aged three to nine, admission prices begin at $98, while adult tickets start at $104, making a day at the park a significant expense for many families.
According to police, this was not the first time the woman had been suspected of attempting to bypass Disneyland’s ticketing system. It is unclear whether any additional charges will be filed, but the arrest has raised questions about security measures and enforcement of admission policies at major theme parks like Disneyland.
