Lost Cat Travels 800 Miles from Yellowstone to California

During a camping trip in June, Rayne Beau, a 2-year-old Siamese cat, went missing after dashing into the woods near the Anguianos’ campsite at Fishing Bridge RV Park in Yellowstone. Benny and Susanne Anguiano searched for five days but were forced to return home to Salinas, California, without their beloved pet. Their other cat, Starr, mourned the loss, meowing throughout the 14-hour drive back home.

Miraculous Discovery 800 Miles Away

Almost two months later, Rayne Beau was found wandering the streets of Roseville, California, 800 miles from Yellowstone. A local Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) worker identified him through his microchip, astonishing the Anguianos. “We were shocked that he made it back to California,” Benny Anguiano said.

The odds were stacked against Rayne Beau, as Yellowstone is home to predators such as grizzly bears and coyotes. However, he survived the journey, despite losing 40% of his body weight. For more on this incredible story, visit this article.

An Emotional Reunion and Recovery

When reunited, Rayne Beau was visibly exhausted but safe. “He just looked at me and fell asleep,” Susanne Anguiano shared. Now home, Rayne Beau is recovering and gaining back his strength. The Anguianos are cautious about future trips, with Susanne unsure if she’ll ever travel with her cats again, but if she does, it won’t be far from home.
